Last year I had a crazy idea to write a book. Without any prior experience writing, editing, designing, publishing, or marketing, I set out on an adventure.
I spoke with Millennials who didn’t succumb to the societal norms of working a nine-to-five. I forged life-long friendships with other fellow dream-chasers. And I learned that going after your dream isn’t as scary as it seems.
So after months of hard work, I’m excited to announce The Millennial Way is finally here:

What is The Millennial Way?
Contrary to the title, The Millennial Way is not a laid out path on how to achieve your dream. It’s a mindset.
My friend Todd (who wrote the foreword) explains it better:
This book isn’t a “fail-proof guide to success,” and I know Declan wouldn’t want it to be. We both know better than that because there’s something I haven’t told you yet:
There is no formula to success.
There is no equation for happiness.
There is only a mindset.
Welcome to The Millennial Way.
Why is it that we see so many Millennials bucking the typical career tract to pursue their passion? How does one gather up the courage to give themselves permission to dream again? Where will you end up after reaching your dream?
I explore these questions, and more, through the journeys of five inspirational Millennials:
- Jordan DePaul, singer/songwriter in Nashville, TN
- Lisa Kirk, editor of Southern Weddings Magazine
- Alex Rawitz, co-founder of Verbatm
- Anu Menon, co-founder of Driftaway Coffee
- Suyog Mody, co-founder of Driftaway Coffee
I also weave in my own personal story as a Millennial still trying to chase after his dream.
With all of these elements, the book comes together as a “guide” of what to expect as you journey toward your dream. At the very least, it’ll serve as an inspiration for you to go after your dream.
What does the jagged line on the cover symbolize?
The sign on the book cover is used to symbolize the Step Up, Step Out, and Step Forward phases one experiences as she travels on her path towards her dream.
Step Up
Step Up is the shortest yet seemingly hardest stage. It involves curating resources, experiences, and motivation to go after your dream. It means overcoming the fear holding you back. When you Step Up, you put in place real plans to chase your dream on the side while still attending to life’s responsibilities.
After you Step Up, you no longer say “Someday I hope to…” but instead say with confidence “Today I will…”
Step Out
Stepping Out is essentially taking your dream to the world. A piece of art doesn’t become a masterpiece unless it is showcased for others to see. A clay pot is useless unless it is first cast into a kiln. When you Step Out into the world with your dream, the world will come after you.
After you Step Out, you will know how to navigate in this new territory.
Step Forward
Step Forward is the longest stage, because for most of us we will be doing it for the rest of our lives. Therefore, we must learn to appreciate the journey instead of focusing on the end goal. We can do so by measuring our progress with gratitude.
